What is president’s day?
President’s day was originally established in 1855 to recognize president George Washington. It was traditionally celebrated on his actual birthday, February 22 but it wasn’t popularly known into it was moved and it became a part of 1971’s Uniform monday holiday act which was an attempt to create more 3 day weekends for the nation’s workers. Now we celebrate presidents day to celebrate the past and present presidents.
When is it?
President’s day is celebrated every third monday of february.
What are several ways to show honor and respect on President’s day?
  • Eating fish(George Washington’s favorite main course)
  • Visiting the president’s memorial in Mount rushmore national memorial.
  • Eating pie(George Washington and Abraham Lincoln favorite dessert)
  • Reading books about them
How can you show honor and respect on President’s day?
We can show honor and respect by remembering what they did and sharing it with our family. In other words taking a trip or making a dinner and expressing gratitude to these great people.
What I found interesting about this holiday is that it was made to give national workers more 3 day weekends. I find this nice because it gives them more time to spend with their families and they also get to learn about  the past. In other words this holiday is a great chance to get connected with history.
